iTIP Board with Governor Reynolds

iTIP recognized Governor Kim Reynolds for her service to Iowa and longstanding support of the state’s tourism industry during the opening ceremonies of the Iowa State Fair on August 13, 2026.

Kevin Bourke, President and CEO of Discover Ames and immediate past president of iTIP, shared remarks on behalf of the association, joined by iTIP Executive Director Chelsea Lerud and members of the organization’s leadership.

“Governor Reynolds has always recognized that tourism isn’t just about attracting visitors. It is a powerful economic driver that strengthens Iowa’s communities, supports local businesses, creates jobs and tells Iowa’s story,” said Bourke. “We were proud to recognize her commitment to Iowa tourism and the important role it plays in our state’s success.”

iTIP leadership with Governor ReynoldsAs Iowa’s statewide tourism association, iTIP works to elevate the value of tourism and ensure the industry has a strong voice in conversations affecting Iowa’s future. Recognizing leaders who understand that value is an important part of that work. The recognition offered an opportunity for Iowa’s tourism industry to thank Reynolds for acknowledging tourism’s contribution to the state throughout her service as Governor.

The Iowa State Fair provided a fitting setting for the recognition. As Iowa’s largest tourism attraction and one of the state’s most cherished traditions, the Fair welcomes visitors from across Iowa, the nation and around the world each year. It also serves as a reminder of tourism’s ability to bring people together and showcase Iowa to visitors.
