The Resources Committee of iTIP hired CyBIZ Labs of Iowa State University to develop an Economic Impact Model for use by the travel and hospitality industry. The Economic Impact Model is designed to measure the full effect of an event on the local economy. The model takes average spending inputs for the attendees of an event, the total population in attendance, the percentage of attendees from outside the events county, and the share of people requiring a hotel room due to the event.
