2025 Tourism Priorities: A Virtual Forum with Elected Officials

December 12 @ 2:00 PM - 2:30 PM

Iowa’s elected officials are invited to join tourism professionals from across the state in an engaging virtual forum to discuss the future of Iowa’s tourism industry and its key priorities for 2025. As tourism continues to play a vital role in Iowa’s economy, it’s essential to explore innovative strategies that will support the industry’s growth, sustainability, and statewide impact. This is an excellent opportunity for elected officials to connect with tourism leaders, understand the industry’s priorities, and collaborate on policies that will help grow Iowa’s tourism economy.

This forum will provide a platform to learn about and discuss the following 2025 priorities:

  1. Promote Tourism through User-Funded Enhancements
    – Support initiatives allowing for self-sustaining user fees, which can be reinvested into tourism destinations to improve visitor experiences and boost economic growth across Iowa.
  2. Maintain Consistent Tourism Funding
    – Advocate for preserving current tourism funding in the state budget, ensuring continued development and long-term growth for Iowa’s tourism industry.
  3. Fund the Major Tourism Attraction Fund
    – Explore opportunities to secure ongoing support for the Major Tourism Attraction Fund, aimed at elevating large-scale tourism projects that can increase Iowa’s appeal as a premier destination.
  4. Maintain Iowa’s Summer Tourism Season
    – Discuss the importance of safeguarding the current school start date of August 23 to maximize the summer tourism season and its economic benefits. This session will also explore options to further enhance summer tourism opportunities across the state.

This event is open to Iowa’s elected officials and any iTIP Member.
